Château de Beaucastel

Updated: Jan 7, 2020

An iconic traditional producer located in the Southern Rhône Valley, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Although the winery was officially established in 1909, there is history of the Beaucastel’s acquiring their first plot of land in the region in 1549. Today it is ran by the Perrin family who have been for 5 generations. They started organic farming in 1950 and biodynamic farming in 1974. Truly ahead of their time. They use all 13 permitted grape varieties. Mourvèdre is a big player in the blend. These wines have a sense of place. Careful attention to grape growing and winemaking ensure longevity in their wines. The 98’ is smooth and complex, but it still is a baby. These wines can age much longer.
