Dry Sauternes

The greatest sweet wine in the world, Château d’Yquem, has been producing Ygrec since 1959. “Y” or “Ygrec” is a special bottling which is much drier than its luscious counterpart. It is made from the same vines that goes into Château d'Yquem. Y is a Sauvignon Blanc based wine with with Sémillon making up the second part of the blend. This is not your typical Bordeaux blanc table wine. The price point clearly does not suggest that either. Y is bursting with flavors of white peach, mango, lemon rind and honey. Extremely floral and tropical on the nose. A wine they used to not make every year, you can now expect to see a vintage of Y every year since 2004. Just like Château d’Yquem, this is a wine worth trying at least once in your life.
